I just had to paint this outdoor still life that I had photographed at a plein air workshop taught by Ovannes Berberian in Rigby, Idaho- at his home. The dappled light coming through the orchard cast such beautiful shadows on the set-up. The workshop was based in oil paint. This was painted years later and was my first pastel painting. It just seemed to paint itself. I had a very limited selection of colors, but they seemed to be the perfect amount. The good thing about pastels is you can't mix the colors, the bad thing about pastel is that you can't mix the colors.
This was priced at $450. I decided that I can't part with it now - maybe at a later date I will.
